Dr. Erica Larson discusses the effects of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and how its presence in the body can increase the chances of contracting tuberculosis (TB). Hear her findings and learn how current research is shaping the future of how both viruses are treated.

About Dr. Erica Larson

Dr. Erica Larson is a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Scanga at the University of Pittsburgh. She studies immunologic defects associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and how it contributes to increased susceptibility to tuberculosis (TB). In addition, she is interested in strategies to improve protection against TB. Prior to her work in the Scanga Lab, Dr. Larson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Toxicology from the University of California, Davis, in 2009 and her doctorate degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Utah in 2018.
