Join Carnegie Museum of Art’s artist-educators, Lin Qian and Autumn Mitlo, while relaxing in your own home as you learn new drawing skills or build upon your own practice in this 90-minute drawing class inspired by works of art in the collection. Each month, artist-educators will lead a discussion about different works of art and corresponding drawing techniques. Explore a range of styles across time and place and become more familiar with the elements and principles of art and design.
Suggested Class Materials:
Students are encouraged to use materials on hand or try something new! Choose a range of drawing implements that can give you different line weights and widths and add a little color. Choices can include pencils, colored pencils, sharpie/markers, crayons, conte, charcoal… Try a range of papers for different effects. Sketchbooks are encouraged.
Elements of Drawing is a meeting-style Zoom so that our artists and guest can connect face-to-face and showcase their art to the audience. You are welcome to keep your camera on or off for this event.
