How do we wind down from the business of our lives? Fishing, picnics, mountain excursions, sewing, and hiking—each activity (among many others) has us looking forward to the weekend. But, what were the conditions that led workers to demand the creation of the “weekend?” How have people filled their hours with joy, relaxation, hobbies, and togetherness throughout history?
